VNU University of Law established
On September 23, 2022, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam signed Decision No. 1124/QD-TTg on the establishment of the University of Law as VNU’s 9th member university upgraded from VNU School of Law.

According to the establishment project, the upgrading and development of VNU School of Law inherits its 46-year tradition and that of its predecessors; its brand name and all existing resources, contributing to the completion of VNU model as a multi-disciplinary university, ensuring the implementation of national strategic and socio-economic development tasks.

On July 30, 1976, the Minister of Higher and Secondary Vocational Education (now Ministry of Higher Education and Training) issued Decision No. 1087/QD on establishing the Legal Studies Faculty (a predecessor of VNU School of Law) - the first law training institution of Vietnam under the University of Hanoi. During its more than 46 years’ development, the School of Law has been gradually asserting its position and role as one of the centres for scientific research, training of high-quality legal human resources, consulting on legal policies for the country as well as a major research centre on legal science for Vietnamese jurisprudence. With the named achievements recognized by the Party, State and society, the School of Law was awarded the Second-Class Labour Order in 2016.

Regarding its specialties and training scale, the School of Law is conducting 4 bachelor programs, 9 research master programs, 5 practice-oriented programs, and 6 doctoral training programs.

As of the beginning of 2022, the School of Law had had 3,228 full-time students, including 2,099 undergraduate students, 350 dual degree undergraduate students, 726 master students and 53 doctoral students. In recent years, the training scale of the School of Law has increased both quantitatively and qualitatively, and has always been highly appreciated by the society.
