Creating motivation to increase sustainable development indicators

After nearly 30 years of establishment, VNU's organizational model has basically come into stable operation. VNU focused on prioritizing internal governance reform to meet its development goals in line with the tasks assigned by the Party, State and the people. In recent years, VNU's development indicators have always been guaranteed and stable.

VNU has issued many mechanisms and policies to promote the development of science and technology products as well as to employ and remunerate scientists, such as the Regulation on intellectual property management at VNU; Guidelines on developing and incentivizing strong research groups; Supportive policy for international publication; Regulations on accreditation, management and development of key laboratories/research centres at VNU level, etc. Especially, on February 8, 2022, VNU issued the Science, Technology, and Innovation Strategy for the 2021 – 2030 period. This important legal document helps promote VNU’s science and technology to a higher level and is a strategic breakthrough to develop VNU into a smart and innovative university.

Accordingly, the Strategy is built on the principle of thoroughly grasping the viewpoints, guidelines and directions on science, technology development and innovation of the Party and State. VNU's Science, Technology, and Innovation Strategy is closely linked and in conformity with the national strategy for science, technology and innovation development. It is expected that by 2030, VNU will develop 50 innovation ecosystems with strong research groups, key laboratories/research centres, spin-off businesses, and start-ups. Along with that is an increase in scientific, technological, and innovation results with the ratio of ISI/Scopus articles to total scientific staff per year reaching 1.8; and 60% of international publications will be in Q1, and Q2 journals.
