Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) commits to supporting the development of VNU Vietnam Japan University
On March 8, 2023, VNU President Le Quan had a meeting and worked with President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Tanaka Akihito at VNU headquarters in Hoa Lac on VNU Vietnam Japan University (VJU) construction investment project.

VNU President introduced VNU’s facilities, scale of students, faculty and scientists to JICA President and his delegation. Notably, VNU has moved its headquarters to Hoa Lac since May 2022 and VNU Vietnam Japan University is among the first VNU units operating here. VNU has set aside 76 hectares for the construction of VJU.

Recently, JICA has given a lot of support to VNU Vietnam Japan University and VNU is currently proposing more programs to the Government to consider for JICA to promote technical support and the implementation of VJU’s training programs to match the development of the university in Hoa Lac.

The VNU Vietnam Japan University construction investment project is expected to be completed in 2028. Currently, VNU has arranged a temporary compound for VJU’s 3000 students with full facilities for teaching, students’ study and everyday life. VNU President Le Quan emphasized that although Vietnam Japan University was oriented to be a research university, in order to develop sustainably, it was necessary for it to pay due attention to admissions to those programs that meet the needs of society and businesses of the two countries.

JICA President Tanaka Akihito highly appreciated the cooperation relationship with VNU and believed that in the future, with the support from the Japanese Government, VNU would build a high-quality infrastructure for training and research services in Hoa Lac. JICA hoped that the Vietnamese Government would soon approve the Pre-Feasibility Study Report (Pre FS) and extend the application of the special financial mechanism for VNU VJU’s future development.

Within the framework of the working session, the President of JICA visited VJU’s temporary compound
