The Japanese Chashitsu reproduced at VNU Hoa Lac campus for the first time
The space simulating the traditional Japanese Chashitsu (tea room) with the tea-making, tea-offering and tea-drinking rituals has been demonstrated by Tea Master Michida Soryu from Hanoi Urasenke Tea Ceremony Club.

This was the highlight of the "Tea Ceremony and Japanese Culture Experience Festival" held at VNU Hoa Lac campus by VNU Vietnam Japan University in collaboration with Hanoi Urasenke Tea Ceremony Club, VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The event attracted more than 200 attendees.

Speaking at the event, VNU Vice President Pham Bao Son said that 2023 was of special significance for Vietnam and Japan as the two countries were celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. This event would be a valuable experience for the attendees to better understand the typical culture of the land of the Rising sun, contributing to the promoting of friendship and exchange between the two nations and peoples.

According to Prof. Furuta Motoo – Rector of VNU Vietnam Japan University, the reason why Japan's tea ceremony culture can be preserved for a long time is that it is constantly modified to suit the taste of each era. He hoped that this event would further spread the following 4 principles of the Japanese tea ceremony: "harmony, respect, purity and tranquility" to young people.
