The Asia Media Research Center at Communication University of China has devoted itself to establish the Center’s academic brand both inside and outside the University.
Communication University of China, the former Beijing Broadcasting Institute, was experiencing its transition from a comparatively technical college to a comprehensive university when Asia Media Research Center was founded in 2002. Asia Media Research Center introduced a worldwide perspective to the teachers and researchers in the University. Asia Media Research Center tried to enlarge their research horizon from the region of one country to an international sphere with its funding to a series of research programs.
The forums and symposiums held by Asia Media Research Center provide an academic platform for researchers and practitioners. The Center has successfully held Asia Media Communication and Media Forum four times from 2003 to 2006. The annual Forum chooses specific theme each year to arouse wide exchange. Now the Forum has been one of the famous brands in the field of communication research and industry.
Besides the annual Forum, Asia Media Research Center also strengthen its cooperation with universities and institutions from other Asian countries: the Korean Society for Journalism and Communication, the Japan Society for Studies in Journalism and Mass Communication, Seoul National University, Korean Association for Broadcasting and Telecommunication Studies, and so on.
