VNU actively promoted digital transformation

According to the data updated, VNU Library and Digital Knowledge Centre’s digital repository rose to 48/3,903 globally, which increased VNU's global academic influence, and moved up 6 places to 59th among the world’s 4,039 institutional digital repositories.

Specifically, there were 67,100 documents indexed by Google Scholar, of which 52,900 with citations; in the first 4 months of 2022, the number of scientific repository documents increased by nearly 2,000, etc.

The ranking by Cybermetrics Labs (under the Spanish National Research Council) shows an increasing digitization level of VNU digital repository, VNU’s Open Science and openness to the world, VNU’s popularity and an increase in citations to VNU's academic resources, which is an important foundation data source for Google Scholar to index scientific data, contributing to creating VNU's Digital Author Profile on Google Scholar, etc.

VNU Centre for Library and Digital Knowledge has always believed that digital transformation, learning materials digitalization, digital knowledge management applications, turning big data into scientific knowledge, connecting and sharing digital knowledge to promote digital creativity, among others, are core tasks to accelerate digital transformation as well as develop a Digital University - Smart University now and in the future.

In the past year, VNU actively promoted digital transformation with a focus on implementing online training; completing models, methods of online training associated with quality assurance. The Centre for Teaching Excellence, VNU Institute for Education Quality Assurance, participated in building, managing and transferring the Online Learning management system (VNU-LMS) to VNU’s training units to meet its demand for innovation in teaching activities.

By the first semester of the 2022-2023 academic year, many VNU’s units had used VNU-LMS system to implement online teaching activities; specifically, VNU University of Science conducted 4,294 credit classes; VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities: 3,050 credit classes; VNU University of Education: 943 credit classes; VNU University of Medicine and Pharmacy: 705 credit classes; VNU University of Law: 1,121 credit classes; VNU National Defense and Security Centre: 385 credit classes. Besides, VNU University of Languages and International Studies offered the "Information and Communication Technology” module through VNU-LMS from June 2021 to September 2022 with 3 classes of more than 2,400 students; VNU Institute for Education Quality Assurance conducted nearly 100 credit classes to coach lecturers within VNU and beyond.

The Centre for Teaching Excellence has also been collaborating with the Digital University Administration Centre and related units to build a 100% online university model to launch in 2023.
